Psycho- Social Health

The way to promote psycho- social health

Failure of addressing mental health and psycho-social issues in the aftermath of disasters often suppresses a child's development. In this interim school program, we are trying to implement certain coping strategies for children after disasters in the form of creative activities, physical activities like yoga, learning kits, and friendly counselling sessions for students who are unable to cope with trauma. So that they can unwind their fears and tell their feelings.

To overcome this, we have designed an activity kit for children of age group (6-11) for classes (1 to 5) with some activities like telling their emotions, free-drawing, story-telling, group dance, and breathing exercises with info-graphics that educate them about various disasters and what they should do in Cyclones.

With this, there is also a game of cards which is also designed to learn about disasters in a fun way. These ate  made in Odia language so that the local children and teachers whose basic language is odia can also understand.

Friendly counselling sessions of children will be a part of the school. Special attention must be paid to issues such as fear, trauma, abuse, and exploitation, as well as other issues concerning the protection of children, which have become widespread and serious in these disastrous time. As a result, many children suffer significantly more in the post-disaster stage as a result of these.
